Emmitt Smith is widely considered the most famous person from Pensacola, Florida. Born there in 1969, Smith became one of the greatest running backs in NFL history, spending most of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.
He holds the league’s all-time rushing record, won three Super Bowl championships, and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
Other notable Pensacola natives include actor Perry King and various military figures tied to the city’s naval aviation heritage, but Smith’s national recognition, records, and cultural presence (including his run on “Dancing with the Stars”) give him the strongest claim to being Pensacola’s most famous export.
